Andhra Pradesh in Southern India was hailed as a ‘model state for market friendly economic reforms, with its own ‘Vision 2020’ economic policy introduced in 1999 to take advantage of a liberalized global economy. Yet, how did the ‘model state’ fare in its duty to the most vulnerable of its citizens?

This study is an important contribution to understand livelihood development processes in India, in that it emphasizes the need to analyse globalization-induced projects and programmers from a Dalit perspective.
