The book historically examines the nature of racial discrimination South Africa with special reference to the Indian community whose population is currently extimated at about 1.2million. it also analyses the recent changes in South Africa and their ramifications for the future of the Indian community. Looking at the history of legislative measures against non-white population since 1860 the author maintains that the so-called “Indian Question†in South Africa which was first raised by Mahatma Gandhi as an immigrant lawyer and the leader of the community had in fact never been resolved, and continues to defy solution inspite of the demise of apartheld.
