The enlightened industrialist, Jamsetji Tata, was the father of modern iron and steel industry in India, Animated by a spirit of enterprise and adventure and inspired by  patriotic fervour, he struggled against heavy odds and pioneered the textile industry, planned a hydroelectric project and organized a number of other schemes, big and small, for the economic advancement of India.
