Bharat Ratna Dr. Ambedkar was a great scholar, a profound thinker, a humanist, a brilliant academician, a journalist and

writer, a persuasive orator, a legal luminary of extraordinary brightness, a constitutional expert, an economist, a

champion of the downtrodden, an emancipator of the suppressed castes, a liberator of Hindu women and the master-

builder of a great nation. Realizing the vision of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar with regard to the uplift of Dalits and its relevance to

the present day society, Dr.B.R. Ambedkar studies center, Kakatiya University, Warangal, organized a National Seminar

on "Ambedkar's vision of Dalit uplift of and its contemporary relevance" on 6th and 7th May 2006. Most of the papers in

this volume were presented during the National Seminar.
