I was a school student, may be in Class V (in 1968) at Shillon (In Meghalaya; then capital of Assam) that my late father Alauddin Choudhury gave me a brochure of Assam Tourism on Manas Till then I was aware of only Kaziranga as the sole wildife haven! That brochure contained some fine pictures taken by late E. P. Gee, especially of a golden langur and the famous view of Manas bend [NOTE: thus typical Manas bend is actually inside Bhutan. After that I did not look back. Any piece of paper newspaper reports or the excellent write-up in the wildlife of India on manas given new justice activist representing NGos as well as an administrator I joined as the first Deputy Commissioner of the new a district in western Assam in May 2 created Baks Manas National Par distict in western Assam in May 2004. Bulko and its eastern buffer are located in district. It gave me ample opportunity to play a Major role in helping a ravaged national park and a world herita to be back on the rails. MANAS is among the better known wildlife of India.
