Engineer administrator and statesman, Sir Visvesvaraya belongs to that small group of Indians whose ideas and achievements have been among the truly creative and formative forces of modern India. His brilliance and vision have given us monuments of beauty and utility such as the Krishnaraja Sagar Dam, Mysore University and the Bhadravati Iron and steel works in Karnataka which to this day stand a testament to his ability as a planner.
