The book consists of 21 chapters dealing with such conventional

grammar topics as parts of speech, sentences, clauses, nouns, pronouns,

articles, adjectives, verbs, adverbs, prepositions and conjunctions: Since it covers the fundamentals of grammar, those learners who need a little theoretical grounding in the mechanics of English can profit from it. But theoretical discussions have been reduced to a minimum. The emphasis throughout is on practical usage, and alongside formal structures there are examples of everyday informal usage. There is a focus on those areas of usage which usually pose problems to the average Indian learner of English These areas include articles, auxiliaries, subject-verb agreement, indirect speech or reported speech, conditional clauses, question tags, passive voice adjective clauses or relative clauses, short forms, tenses and prepositions.
