Necessary background. It is assumed that the student has already studied an intermediate course and covered the material such as is given in my Basic Economics. The subject matter of that book will not therefore be repeated in this.
Method of study. First read the chapter being studied fairly quickly without paying attention to details in order to have an idea what it is all about. Then study the chapter, one paragraph at a time, until it is thoroughly understood. In some cases reference to your intermediate course may be necessary. Do not leave any chapter until you have checked whether you really know it, as distinct from having read about it. This is the purpose of the progress test.
