The ‘Communist university’ (CUL), held every summer in London is one of the most important gatherings of Marxist teachers and students in Western Europe. Organized by the Communist Party and attended by over 1,000 people, it offers an intensive 8-day course of lectures and seminars, given by Marxists of different affiliations and none, covering a wide spectrum of subjects, from the philosophy of the natural sciences to economics, psychology to literary criticism and art history, and from political theory to the politics of education.
