In the History of mankind,, the changes in the modes of production are effected very unevenly in the form of revolutions separated both in time and space. There has never been throughout the world the same made of production (with the exception of the epoch of primitive communism). Even today, with one-sixth of the globe freed from the rule of the bourgeoisie, there exist side by side with the still prevailing capitalist mode of production remnants of all earlier modes of production.
