The book is an account of maritime activities and ports of Orissa, which constitute the core area of the historic Kalinga territory of ancient and medieval fame. It is a revised version of the Ph.D. thesis on the topic, “A Historical Study of the Ports of Orissa” under the guidance of Dr. M. N. Das, formerly professor of History and Vice-Chancellor of Utkal University.
