The Year Around Poems for Children
By ALICE I. HAZELTINE and ELVA S. SMITH llustrated by Paula Hutchison.
From the coming of the springtime,
The Year Around follows the proces-
sion of the monthssummer's golden
glory, autumn with its splendoro
color, the snowy days of winter, and
back again to springtime, with its green leaves and blossoming flowers. Included are poems for every month of the year Easter and Christmas, Halloween and Thanksgiving, and other special days appear in turn as the seasons pass in review.
The poems are varied in mood and
appeal, fresh and inspiring. Some seem almost to sing themselves; many have lines which will long be remembered. Some are by poets whose names every one knows, others by poets less well known. All will give real pleasure and delight as they are read to oneself or shared with others. The many black and white decorations are beautiful and appropriate.
