In this book we have not only analyzed the basic impediment in India's march to glory but have also made
an attempt to identify budgetary resources to end the poverty of the masses. The second aspect that needs
mention is our attempt to show how the inequality among sections of population can be removed within a
reasonable time frame. Lastly, we have shown what needs to be done to catch up with the developed
world by the year 2025.
Dr. Malay Chaudhuri founded The Indian Institute of Planning & Management in the year 1973, after
giving up his professorship at the IIM, Bangalore. His dream was to set up an institute which would focus
not just on management but also on macro economic aspects of India. Thus, IIPM was set up with a
vision to economy and integrate management concepts with concepts of national economic planning to
produce barefoot managers who would always remain committed to removing the massive poverty of the
people of India. Dr. Malay Chaudhuri's students, although spread across the globe, holding crucial and
decision - making positions in the corporate sector, are bonded by that one ideology of making a positive
difference, turning that ideology into a movement in itself. Arindam Chaudhuri, co-author of this book, is
