The following Chapters aim at giving a short but comprehensive account of the most important developments in Modern Philosophy. In preparing this brief survey, I have endeavored, as possible, to avoid the use of all technical terms, and to describe the views of modern philosophers in language which will be intelligible to ordinary persons.
