“The attempt of the Upanishads is to express the Inexplicable, to paint the Formless, to sing the voiceless beauty and bliss of the Absolute.” Besides fulfilling all these, Taittiriya takes up man as its theme of discussion. It argues that man is a complex being, that he has as many as five distinct personality layers in him. If man wants to overcome his complexities – the complexities that make one’s life miserable – Taittiriya says,that he has to withdraw  from these five  layers of personality, and be in his essential nature-the unitive Self.
