This book, which is now in the readers' hands, has been written mainly with the following objects in view. It is well known that historians have not been able to determine in the chronology of Indian History the date when Mahabharat was composed. One reason for this is that there are even today serious differences of opinion among them about the true form of Mahabharat. Some historians hold that Mahabharat war did actually take place, while others maintain that its historicity is doubtful . Who were the Kauravas and who were Pandavas -- even this question remains the subject of controversy.
