Samir Amin Was born in Egypt in 1931.From 1957 to 1960 he worked for the Egyptian goverment in economic development and from 1960 to 1963 as an econimic consultant to the governer of Mali.He was subsequently a professor at the universities of Poitiers,Dakaar aamd Vincennes.Since 1970 he has been the director of the Institute of African Econnomic Develoment and Planning in Dakar.
He is the author of many books,among them Neo-Colonialism in West Africa,Accumulaation on a World Scale,Unequal Development aand Imperialism aannd Unequaal Development,all published by Monthly Review Press.
